Old East Davis Neighborhood Celebrates 100+ Years!

What:  Old East Davis Centennial (Plus) Celebration

When:  Saturday May 20, 2017  1:30 – 4:30 PM

Where:  Celebration Central will be at the intersection of K and 4th streets, which also will be closed to traffic

As part of the Davis Centennial celebration, Old East Davis Neighborhood Association is inviting the public to enjoy historical and contemporary features of Davis’ oldest neighborhood.  The celebration begins at 1:30 PM at the intersection of K and 4th streets with the re-dedication of the mandala.

A guided walking tour will depart at 2 PM from Celebration Central at the corner of 4th and K streets.  Or from 2-4:30 visitors can pick up a map showing featured structures and stroll at their own schedule.  Historical signage will be posted at vintage homes. We are asking neighbors and residents to be on hand to share tips and referrals on the art of restoring and maintaining historical structures and sharing what they like about the neighborhood.

Wildlife Biologist Ed Whisler will host a spotting scope for viewing nesting activities of Swainson’s hawks and other raptors in the neighborhood.

The intersection of 4th and K will be closed to traffic, so sidewalk chalk and other kids activities will be available, maybe even an old fashioned lemonade stand!
